The Ja'Shawn Powell Human Decency Association of NOLA is dedicated to creative, legal methods of bringing visible decency back to the city of New Orleans. The Association will work on projects that will affect education, income level, career guidance, police presence, and others.
This is a city that has seen too much violence, from nature and from humans, to remain complacent in the face of the murder of a two-year-old child. Ja'Shawn's death is the last straw.
Membership is open. Any dues or registration fees for events will be at the discretion of the membership. As the association grows, a governing board can be selected and non-profit status applied for.
If you wish to join the Ja'Shawn Powell Human Decency Association of NOLA, please send an email to jashawnpowellassoc@yahoo.com.
If you just wish to show your support, please post in the forum.
Thank you!

On January 2, 2009, Ja'Shawn Powell, two-years-old, was murdered. This child seems to have met his fate at the hands of his own father who chose to kill Ja'Shawn as a way to circumvent payment of child support.
This website is dedicated to actions that will return human decency to the streets of New Orleans. This is a huge task and won't be accomplished in a short time. But throughout the course of time, with the memory of Ja'Shawn as a guide, we can do it.

If you think citizen action doesn't work...
This afternoon two members of the Association, using their heads, visited a single bar on Bourbon street and asked them to pull their security cam tape from Saturday night.
The result? Tape showing the three (yes three) involved in the murder of Wendy Burns Saturday night in the lower French Quarter.
Time invested? Less than 20 minutes!
NOPD detectives are now combing Bourbon Street for other security cam shots of the three.
20 minutes +
2 people =
Worthwhile evidence.
We can do this!
